So, I just got home from Simon Pegg's book signing event in L.A., California.
He is so incredibly charming. A real gentleman. Here's the scoop on what happened.
-I walked up to him and the first thing he says is, "Hi Lolli." (Our names are already written on a Post-It note for him when he opens the book. Helps the line move faster.) He asked which I preferred, "Lauren," or "Lolli." I asked if he wouldn't mind writing both, and he graciously agreed to this.
-He asked how long I've had the name "Lolli." "Long time now. Family nickname."
-He signed my copy, leaving a very interesting message saying, "Hi there."
-I told him I had a gift for him. To which he replied excitedly, "Oh Shit!" I gave him the Tim Bisley keychain I made [link]
-He also noticed my BuckXLolli keychain [link]
-He thought both were great and loved them. Then asked if both were for him. I had grown quite attached to my BuckLolli keychain and told him, "Tim is yours. This one's mine." To which he (thankfully) laughed about. Finding my reaction cute and adorable.
-He took a sneak peek at my sketchbook, which was opened to a page of 3 drawings (completed just mere seconds upon his arrival.) One, Buck holding Simon's book giving a thumbs-up. Two, Shaun holding a cricket bat from Shaun of the Dead (SPACED style), and third, Lolli kissing Buck.
-When Simon saw the kissing drawing, he asked if Lolli was Buck's girlfriend. To which I responded with the stereotypical fan-girly blush and giggle, and a "kind of," along with my explanation of "I love Buck. He's my favorite."
-After hearing this, Simon told me an INCREDIBLY cute and heart-touching story about a personal drawing of Buck he received from Blue Sky. I will not repeat what he told me because it felt like a very 'hush-hush' moment between him and myself.
-He thanked me for coming to see him and buying his book (and the keychain). I thanked him for visiting and everything in general. We shook hands (I would have LOVED a kiss on the cheek or a hug), and parted.
Overall, this night has been a complete dream that I never want to wake up from!
And, it's official now: I got a thing for British men. <3
Thank you so much Simon! You will forever be the VERY first major celebrity I have met! I don't think I could possibly be any happier. <3
